covid-19STAY AT HOME, STAY HEALTHY!

The Rain City Flyers Spring Track program traditionally starts in early spring and continues on through the end of the Junior Olympics, which run through the middle of July. The first part of our season we practice and compete through the Meadowbrook Community Center, sponsored by the Seattle Parks Department competing against, other community center teams. Rain City is a Middle and Long Distance team only. Field events can be coached with arrangement with the coaching staff.

The Rain City Flyers Spring Track also practices at the same time, with the same coaches as the Meadowbrook Community Center. A separate registration is required for Rain City Flyers.  You can participate in either or both programs.

Practices - Stay at Home, Stay Healthy!

Due the extension of Washington State’s Stay at Home, Stay Healthy order through at least May 31, Rain City Flyers’ Summer 2020 Track & Field program will be delayed until further notice. The beginning of our 2020 Track & Field season will depend upon emerging details regarding the state’s public health orders and the availability of a training facility, and we will not be accepting registrations until further notice. It is our understanding that athletic facilities, managed by Seattle Public Schools, will remain closed through the end of the 2019-2020 school year and will not be available for training workouts through at least June 21.

Rain City’s coaches are working with our PNTF Association to determine the best and safest approach to resuming athletic training and competition in accordance with the State of Washington’s phased Safe Start approach to re-opening public activities, the details of which can be found here: https://coronavirus.wa.gov/what-you-need-know/safe-start. At this point, USATF Junior Olympics Track & Field competitions have been canceled at the association, regional, and national levels for Summer 2020. Local team-sponsored meets have also been canceled at least through mid-June. Check back here for updates on plans for our team training and our association’s competitive events.

As the weather improves and everyone is eager to get out and return to normal, we encourage our athletes to continue to practice safe social distancing and care for the health of themselves and others in all their activities. We look forward to seeing you all as soon as possible.
