Spring Track With Rain City Flyers

mani menu

The RAIN CITY FLYERS track program starts in early spring and continues on through the end of the Junior Olympics, which run through the middle of July. The first part of our season we practice and compete through the Meadowbrook Community Center sponsored by the Seattle Parks Department competing against other community center teams. Rain City is primarily a distance club but we do have coaching that includes most the traditional track and field events.

The RAIN CITY FLYERS track program also practices at the same time, with the same coaches as the Meadowbrook Community Center. A separate registration is required for RAIN CITY FLYERS.  You can participate in either or both programs.

Sign-ups begin February 10th at the Meadowbrook Community Center (206-684-7522) for the Meadowbrook track program run through the Parks Department. RAIN CITY FLYERS registration will be available after practice starts. The first practice is Monday March 29th starting at 5:30 at the Nathan Hale High School track, located at NE 110th St. & 35th Ave. NE. Practices times are Monday 5:30 to 7:00, Wednesday 5:30 to 7:00  and Saturday 9:00 to 10:30.

The early practices will emphasize general fitness and conditioning and learning general track skills. Later season practices will become more specialized for specific events. Everyone is encouraged to try different events and learn new skills.

If you have friends you think may be interested in track and field invite them to come out with you. There is usually an event suitable for everyone’s interests and skills. NO PRIOR experience is required, and nobody is cut from the team.

The Rain City Flyer coach is Corey Batten assisted by Jim Neff (Roosevelt High School coach). To make practices work, help from parents is needed, we can always use coaching assistance.
